Highlight of Celebratory Events of Lingnan University's 50th Anniversary of Re-establishment in Hong Kong (09/2017 - 01/2018)

 《Art of Szto Wai

Mr Szto Wai (1889-1961) is not only a Lingnan alumnus and former faculty member, but also the designer of the Lingnan emblem. A graduate from Canton Christian College in Guangzhou in 1908, Szto Wai dedicated his life to education. He joined the Lingnan faculty in 1910. Upon the request of Dr Chung Wing Kwong, Szto Wai founded Lingnan-affiliated primary and secondary schools in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Saigon in Vietnam. As an educator, artist and administrator, he not only designed the school emblem, but in his remarkable watercolours also conveyed a pictorial history of Lingnan in wartime China. His watercolour of the old campus in South China is a great example of the indomitable Lingnan spirit. More than 40 of Szto Wai’s paintings are kept in the university's Fong Sum Wood Library.
