Scholarships and Prizes

Scholarships administered by the University and open for application

Scholarships are open for application by eligible students. A selection interview will be convened to select suitable students.

Criteria

  • The awardee must be a registered full-time student of the University in both the last and the current academic year.
  • Good academic achievement.
  • If the value of an award exceeds $13,000, the scholarship shall be open for application. This may not apply to some donations where the donor has established an approval procedure, which we have to follow. A Standing Panel of Scholarships will be set up responsible for selecting students for the consideration of donors.

Departmental Scholarships

Students are nominated by respective department heads.

Criteria

  • The awardee must be a registered full-time student of the University in both the last and the current academic year.

For 2nd, 3rd  & 4th year students:

  • Good academic achievement in the last academic year.

For new students:

  • Good academic achievement in the 1st term of the current academic year.

Faculty-based Scholarships

Students are nominated by respective programme directors / department heads.

Criteria

  • The awardee must be a registered full-time student of the University in both the last and the current academic year.

For 2nd, 3rd  & 4th year students:

  • Good academic achievement in the last academic year.

For new students:

  • Good academic achievement in the 1st term of the current academic year.

Outstanding Student of Faculty Awards

One student from each of the Faculty of Art, the Faculty of Business and the Faculty of Social Sciences is nominated by respective faculties.

Criteria

  • Student of the University in both the last and the current academic years.
  • Outstanding academic achievement (cumulative GPA that falls within the top 5 per cent) in respective faculty in the last academic year.

The Most Distinguished Student of the University Award

Open for application by students. A selection interview will be convened to select the Most Distinguished Student of the University.

Criteria

  • The awardee must be a registered full-time student of the University in both the last and the current academic year.
  • Final year undergraduate or postgraduate student
  • A High level of social awareness
  • A High sense of belonging and co-operative attitude
  • Contribution to University life and/or community services
  • Good academic achievement (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above)
  • Good character and conduct
